Live. Learn. Play.

Let’s Play Hokitika - Kia Tākaro, a sub-group of Hokitika Community Trust, wants to empower community connection and equal opportunities for all Tamariki through play.

Let’s breathe life back into Cass Square Playground.

Play is one of the most important things we can do.

Now that the equipment needs replacing, it’s time to break from traditional playgrounds and offer more stimulating and inclusive play for all ages and abilities.

Kids, adults and families want a fun, challenging playground where they can follow their imagination, play as their creativity takes them and not leave anyone out.

The new playground can help our health, foster development, movement and promote social skills, resilience and tolerance.

Westland District Council has allocated $510,000 towards the playground upgrade. It has been 30 years since the last upgrade. However, there is a shortfall of $75,000 which Let’s Play Hokitika aims to fundraise for the project.

In addition, they have received a grant from Lotteries NZ for $500,000 to go towards the upgrade.

For more details on the upgrade and design please visit the Westland District Council website.
